Delete your account
You can delete your QuitIt account and everything stored with it at any time. You do not need to ask our permission, explain why, or speak to anyone.
Delete from inside the app
This is the fastest method and takes effect immediately.
- Open QuitIt on your iPhone.
- Go to Settings.
- Tap Account.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm when prompted. Your account and its stored data are permanently deleted.
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Before you delete, you can export a complete copy of your data from Settings → Export Data. The export is a JSON file you can save anywhere you like.
Delete by email
If you can no longer access the App — for example if you have already removed it from your device — send a deletion request instead.

Subject: Account Deletion Request
Send from the email address associated with your QuitIt account so we can verify the request. We do not ask for government identification. If we cannot verify that a request comes from the account holder, we will decline it and tell you why — this protects your account from being deleted by someone else.
We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and complete them within 30 days, and sooner where the law requires it.
What gets deleted
| Data | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| Your account and sign-in credentials | Permanently deleted | Immediately |
| Encrypted cloud backups of your logs, journal, and settings | Permanently deleted | Immediately |
| Your email address and profile information | Permanently deleted | Immediately |
| Community posts, messages, and display name | Deleted or permanently disassociated from you | Immediately |
| Routine infrastructure backups containing your encrypted rows | Overwritten on our provider's rolling cycle | Within 90 days |
| Transaction records required for tax and accounting law | Retained without recovery data | Up to 7 years |
Backup copies are inert and encrypted, and are not used for any purpose while they age out. We retain nothing else about you after deletion.
Data stored on your device
QuitIt is local-first, so most of your data lives on your iPhone rather than on our servers. Deleting your account removes what we hold — it does not erase the copy on your device.
- To erase the on-device copy: press and hold the QuitIt icon, tap Remove App, then Delete App. This removes the App's local database from your phone.
- Check your backups. If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups enabled, a copy of the App's data may exist in those backups until they cycle out. Those backups are controlled by Apple and by you. You can manage them in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Your subscription is separate
Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, so we cannot cancel one on your behalf. Cancel it yourself in Settings → your name → Subscriptions → QuitIt → Cancel Subscription on your iPhone. If you delete your account while a subscription is active, you will keep being billed until you cancel through Apple.
For refunds, use reportaproblem.apple.com. See section 8 of the Terms of Service for full billing terms.
You can keep using QuitIt without an account
If you want to stop syncing to the cloud but keep tracking your progress, you do not need to delete anything. Sign out in Settings → Account → Sign Out. QuitIt continues to work fully offline, and your data stays on your device.
Other privacy requests
Deletion is one of several rights you have. You can also request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, a portable copy, or restriction of processing. See Your privacy rights in the Privacy Policy, or email quititadmin@gmail.com.
We will never treat you differently for exercising a privacy right.
